Innovative Technology for Hazardous Environments

The startup has expanded beyond sanitation robotics into broader infrastructure automation. Its platforms now support sewer inspection, industrial maintenance, and other hazardous operations. Key innovations include:

  • Wilboar robotic rover: Designed to operate in confined, toxic environments, capable of cleaning, inspection, and real-time data collection.
  • AI-driven sensors and cameras: Enable autonomous navigation and monitoring of underground infrastructure.
  • Data analytics integration: Supports predictive maintenance for urban water systems.

Under the Singapore contract, Genrobotics will deploy 44 robotic units over two years, covering sewer wells, stormwater drains, and industrial tanks. The robots will provide actionable real-time data, enabling a data-driven urban infrastructure system.

Global Recognition and Expansion

Genrobotics’ technological excellence has earned global credibility, allowing it to expand internationally. Current operations include:

  • Deployments in over 100 Indian cities serving 140+ clients
  • International presence in Malaysia, the UK, UAE, and South Africa

This Singapore contract marks a major milestone, validating Indian-built robotics on a world-class competitive stage.

Funding, Revenue, and Growth Trajectory

The startup has attracted investments from:

  • Unicorn India Ventures
  • SEA Fund
  • Industrialist Anand Mahindra
  • Zoho Corporation (₹20 crore in 2022) to scale manufacturing and R&D

Genrobotics reported ₹32 crore in revenue in FY2025, with projections targeting ₹500 crore in the coming years. Leadership has indicated plans for a public listing around FY2028–29.

Transforming Urban Infrastructure and Labour Safety

Genrobotics’ robots not only improve efficiency but enhance worker safety by eliminating the need for humans to enter toxic sewer environments. This aligns with global efforts to automate hazardous tasks and integrate AI-driven urban maintenance solutions.

The company exemplifies how deep-tech innovation can tackle social impact challenges, from reducing manual scavenging risks to optimizing smart-city infrastructure.

Conclusion

Genrobotics’ success story reflects the rise of Indian deep-tech startups on the global stage. With AI-powered sewer-cleaning robots, the company is transforming urban infrastructure, enhancing safety, and proving that Indian innovation can compete internationally.

The Singapore deployment is a testament to the startup’s engineering prowess, operational reliability, and visionary approach to automation, signaling a new era in smart city robotics.
